Filter Glossary

You can use the following search filters in Sprouts. Click a filter to learn more about how and when to use it in your search.

1. Employee count : The number of employees filter helps you narrow your search by company headcount. Use this filter to find the contacts and accounts that fit your ideal market segment, whether in small, medium, or large businesses.

To use this filter:

  1. Click employee count > then select from the predefined ranges, or set a custom range.

2. Employee by Department : The number of employees by department filter helps you find people and companies by the number of team members in specific departments. Use this filter to target your outreach to companies with the department sizes that are most likely to benefit from your product or service.

This filter shows anyone working at companies with the department sizes you select.

To use this filter:

  1. Click + Add new department and begin typing the department name. Then, select a department from the results. You can apply multiple departments to your search.

  2. Next, enter a minimum or maximum number of employees, or create a range.

3. Find imported leads

The account and contact CSV import filters allow you to find specific people and companies by CSV import. Use this filter to find specific leads that you imported.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Account source file or Source file > then check one or more CSV import file names.

4. Buying intent : gives you timely insights into the online intent-to-buy behaviors of your ideal companies. The buying intent filter allows you to filter by buying intent scores and intent topics. Use this filter to target the companies who are actively researching specific topics related to your product or service online.

Sprouts calculates buying intent based on how recently and how often companies demonstrate buying intent when searching online resources for the intent topics you choose. Companies with higher buyer intent scores may be more likely to buy related products or services.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Buying intent, and select one or more intent scores, or

  2. Click one or more intent topics.

  3. After selection click on Apply

5. Companies : The companies filter uses Sprouts to find specific companies or exclude types of companies so you can broaden a prospect list based on what you know works. Search by specific company names, by whether companies have known domains, and by whether Apollo recognizes the account as known or unknown.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Company.

  2. Click Is any of:

    • Enter specific companies to include in your results. This may be useful for filtering existing lists.

    • Similarly enter specific companies to exclude in your results. This may be useful for filtering existing lists.

    • Click Bulk Include / Bulk Exclude, then paste a list of domains/ websites to include or exclude the corresponding companies.

    • After selection click on Apply

6. Lists : The lists filter allows you to filter by the lists you've created in Sprouts. Lists enable you to consolidate contacts or companies in a common resource so you can easily find them in a search, use them in an Sprouts sequence, or export them for use in third-party platforms.

Apply this filter to search for contacts or companies you've already identified in your saved lists.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Lists

  2. Use the dropdown to select one or more lists.

  3. Click to exclude or include lists.

  4. Click apply and Sprouts updates your search with the contacts/ Accounts from the lists you selected.

7. Location filter : enables you to focus your search on specific geographies. Use this filter to prospect in your ideal location or to avoid specific areas.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Account Location / Contact Location> then select from the drop down

    • Begin selecting City, State or Country. Click to Include or Exclude the City/State/Country.

    • You can make multiple selections to Include or Exclude.

8. B2B/B2C : The market segments filter allows you to find prospects by the type of market they serve, like B2B or B2C. Use the filter to find distinct groups of potential or existing customers who share similar characteristics, needs, or behaviors, and are therefore likely to respond similarly to specific marketing strategies or product offerings.

You can search by the following market segments:

  • B2B: Sells to other businesses

  • B2C: Sells to individual consumers

  • Both

  • Unknown

9. The owner : filter allows you to find contacts and accounts by their owners. Use this filter to easily include or exclude the contacts and accounts that you or your teammates own in a search.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Owner > Contact or Account.

  2. Select one or more account/ contact owners from the dropdown.

  3. Click on Show Unassigned to select Accounts/Contacts with no assigned owner

10. Revenue : The revenue filter allows you to search for leads by company revenue. Use this filter to find the leads with larger budgets.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Revenue > then enter a custom range, or select a predefined range.

  2. Sprouts updates your search results based on the revenue filters you selected once you click Apply.

11. Industry SIC Code & Industry NAICS Code: Standard industrial classification (SIC) codes are four-digit numerical codes assigned by the U.S. government to businesses to identify the primary business of an establishment.

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes are numerical codes used by the U.S. government to classify businesses for statistical purposes.

The SIC & NAICS codes filter allows you to search by specific SIC codes and NAICS codes.

Use this filter to narrow your search to the specific industries that match your ideal customer profile.

To use this filter:

  1. Click SIC and NAICS, then enter the SIC or NAICS.

  2. You can combine SIC and NAICS codes in your search.

  3. Sprouts updates your search results when you click on Apply.

12. Source : The source filter allows you to filter by a person or company's source. Use this filter to find people or companies manually created, imported from your CRM or CSV, pulled from Sprouts DB or from other sources.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Source > then select one or more sources from the list.

  2. Sprouts updates your search results when you click on Apply.

13. Job titles : This filter allows you to search for contacts by their current job title or job function. Use this filter to target contacts in the roles that best match your ideal customer profile.

To use this filter:

Click Job titles, and begin typing a job title, then select from the results orr enter the Job title keyword.

  • Check the job title to select it.

  • Type job title and Click Exclude to exclude the Job title.

  • Include / Exclude job titles in bulk using the Add in Bulk option.

14. Industry : The industry filter lets you focus your search by specific industries and keywords. Use this filter to find contacts in the sectors that match your ideal customer profile.

Industry is a self-reported, single value pulled from company social media sites.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Industry and begin typing an industry name. Then, select the industry from the results. You can filter by multiple industries.

  2. By clicking on Exclude, you can also exclude multiple industries.

15. AI Insights : The signals filter allows you to search for people or companies with the signals you create in Sprouts. Signals are sets of custom demographic and behavioral filters, combined with communication tips.

Once you have created signals in Sprouts, apply this filter to find and connect with the people and companies that match the criteria of your ideal customers.

To use this filter:

  1. Click AI Insights > Select Signal.

  2. Check one or more signals.

  3. Select from Direct or Related

  4. Sprouts updates your search results based on the signal filters you selected once you click Apply.

16. Technology : The technology filter allows you to find leads by the type of technologies being employed at a company

Use this filter to hone in on people using competitor technology or technology related to the product or service you provide.

Sprouts calculates technologies data from multiple sources, and this data is updated regularly.

17. Website Visits : When you set up and track website visitors, you can prioritize prospects based on when they visited your website.

To use this filter:

  1. Click Website Visits > Select

  2. Number of visits > Select a minimum or maximum value

  3. Last Visited Date > select a date range > Click save

  4. Pages visited > Select from the dropdown

  5. Webpages > Select the specific listed webpages from the dropdown
