Safety limits for LinkedIn Automatic steps help you to avoid blacklisting as a result of triggering a large number of connections every day. These limitations apply to each type of connection.
By default, the sprouts.ai algorithm, which constantly checks the performance and safety of your LinkedIn accounts, sets the maximum number of replies you can send each day. However, you can also set your own limits. Furthermore, you can track the use of safety limits throughout the day.
Important Note: To use safety limits, you must first connect LinkedIn accounts using an Auto Cookie.
View Safety Limits
Open Settings from the top menu in the header.
Navigate to the LinkedIn Accounts tab → click on the connected LinkedIn account.
Safety limits will be shown right under your profile's info and a session cookie.
For each type of limit, there are two values:
The first number - is the number of connections made during the current day.
The second number (on the screen it is 7) - is the maximum number of connections that are allowed to be performed during the day.
As soon as one or more connections are made, the first number changes automatically, and the icon for each type of connection gets a blue progress circle that shows how much of the limit has been used. For example, when the circle is 100% blue, your daily limit is reached.
Description of task types:
Connections - short messages linked to connection requests on LinkedIn to your contacts.
View Profile - an automatic view of the contacts' profile.
Like Recent Posts - task to leave likes on the posts published by the contacts.
Messages - direct messages to your contacts on LinkedIn.
InMail - (available in the next release).
Detections
Revoke connections - the cancellation of the sent connection request that was not accepted by your contacts And why it is important for your account's reputation.
Endorse Skills - this step allows you to automatically endorse the skills of contacts.
Follow Profile - this step enables the automatic following of targeted contacts.
Edit Safety Limits
The sprouts.ai system regularly checks the overall performance and safety of your LinkedIn accounts and sets the maximum daily limit by default. For example, all connections can be limited to 20 max per day by default and to 40 max per day via a request to the support team.
However, you can configure each type of daily limit by yourself. In this case, you can specify a value that is no greater than the default limits.
Select the needed type of connection.
Edit the second field as shown below on the screen → click on the Save button.
Weekly Invitation Limit on LinkedIn
Please note that LinkedIn sets a weekly limit on connection requests to ensure a positive user experience and reduce spam. This limit applies to both Basic and Premium members. You can send about 100-150 invitations per week and 10-20 per day, although LinkedIn does not disclose the exact numbers.
If you reach this limit, your account will be temporarily restricted from sending further invitations for one week. Withdrawing pending invitations will not lift this restriction.
To avoid hitting this limit, send personalized requests to people you know or have a reason to connect with. Start with 5-10 requests per day and gradually increase. Regularly withdraw pending invitations older than two weeks. Engage in LinkedIn groups, use InMail for non-connections, and update your profile to improve your acceptance rate.
Note: Recently, LinkedIn updated the limits for personalized messages in invitations. If you use a free LinkedIn account, you are limited to up to 5 personalized invitations. The number of LinkedIn invitation message characters has also decreased from 300 to 200.
How SSI Impacts Connection Limits
The Social Selling Index is a metric used by LinkedIn to measure how effectively a user leverages the platform for social selling. It evaluates users based on four key areas: establishing a professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships. Here's how SSI impacts connection limits:
Higher SSI Scores: Users with higher SSI scores are generally perceived as more active and credible on the platform. This increased credibility can lead to LinkedIn granting more leniency with connection limits.
Increased Connection Requests: Users with a high SSI may see an increase in their allowable connection requests, as LinkedIn trusts them to be adding valuable connections rather than indiscriminately sending requests.
Improved Engagement: A higher SSI often correlates with better engagement metrics, such as higher acceptance rates for connection requests and more interactions on shared content. This positive engagement can further enhance the user’s reputation and potentially lead to relaxed connection restrictions.
To improve your SSI, focus on the four elements of social selling:
Complete and optimize your profile with relevant content and professional achievements.
Use LinkedIn’s tools to find and connect with the right prospects.
Engage with meaningful content and share insights regularly.
Build and nurture relationships with key industry players.
By enhancing your SSI, you improve your visibility and effectiveness on LinkedIn and may benefit from increased connection limits, allowing for more extensive and effective networking.
What happens when a limit is reached?
If your Automatic LinkedIn steps in sequence reach the maximum set limits, sprouts.ai will notify you in the Sequence → Log tab.
Furthermore, your LinkedIn account's toggle will turn yellow, indicating that all your automatic LinkedIn steps will be paused. All connections can become active again the next day.
