Key Features Explained

Personalization Variables

Variables automatically insert contact and company information into your messages:

Variable

Description

Example

{{first_name}}

Contact's first name

John

{{company_name}}

Company where contact works

Acme Corp

{{job_title}}

Contact's job position

VP of Sales

{{industry}}

Company's industry vertical

Technology

{{location}}

Contact's location or company HQ

San Francisco

Pro Tip: Always set fallback values for variables in case data is missing for some contacts

Message Templates

Save time with pre-built and custom templates:

  • Pre-built templates: Industry-tested templates for common scenarios

  • Custom templates: Save your own messages as reusable templates

  • Template variables: All templates support personalization variables

  • Version control: Track changes and restore previous versions if needed

Real-Time Preview

See exactly how your message will appear to recipients before sending. The preview feature shows your message with actual contact data, allowing you to catch errors and refine your personalization before deployment.

Best Practices

Writing Effective Personalized Messages

  1. Start with value: Lead with what matters to the recipient

  2. Use personalization thoughtfully: Go beyond just inserting names

  3. Keep it concise: Respect your recipient's time with clear, brief messages

  4. Include a clear call-to-action: Make it obvious what you want the recipient to do next

  5. Test and iterate: Use A/B testing to continuously improve performance

Optimizing Campaign Performance

  • Monitor key metrics: Track open rates, response rates, and conversion rates

  • Segment your audience: Create targeted messages for different contact groups

  • Time your sends: Use automation rules to send messages at optimal times

  • Maintain quality: Use quality controls to ensure professional, error-free messages

  • Review analytics regularly: Make data-driven decisions to improve results

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

Variables Not Populating

Problem: Personalization variables are showing as blank or with placeholder text

Solution:

  • Check that contact records have data in the required fields

  • Verify variable syntax matches available fields exactly

  • Set fallback values for variables that might be empty

Messages Not Sending

Problem: Messages are created but not being delivered

Solution:

  • Check automation rules to ensure they're configured correctly

  • Verify that messages pass quality control checks

  • Ensure you have sufficient message credits

  • Review campaign status to confirm it's active

Can't Find My Old Messages

Problem: Historical messages or configurations are not visible

Solution: All data has been migrated. Use the search function in the Message Center or check filter settings to ensure you're viewing all message types and date ranges.
