Once your email account is added and contacts are imported, you can start a sequence. A sequence is a series of steps to engage with your contacts. These steps can include Email, Call, SMS, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Task, Condition steps in any combination you like.
๐กImportant note: While connecting a mailbox is optional for creating sequences, it is mandatory for launching email campaigns. For SMS or LinkedIn steps, you need to provide the contact information (phone number and LinkedIn account).
Setting up a sequence
To create a sequence, you can follow these steps:
From Template - you can use Sprouts and your team templates.
From Scratch - this option works best if you want complete control over the sequence.
Campaign from scratch
Weโll go over how to build your sequence from scratch, starting with adding contacts. There are four ways to do it:
Step 1: Go to Target Profiles and open the Contacts section.
Step 2: Select the contacts you want to add from your full list.
OR
Step 3: To focus on a specific group, head to your Contact List filter, on the filters pannel on the left, if you have created a contact list of your selected contacts.
Step 4: Choose the desired list from your available contact list dropdown.
Step 6: With your selection ready, click on Manage CMP Engage.
Step 7: Click Send to Campaign Manager.
Step 8: In the pop-up, pick the correct sequence for these contacts.
Step 9: Decide whether or not you wish to move catch all emails to your sequence, depending on your strategy.
Step 10 :If the sequence doesnโt already exist, you can click the plus icon to create a new one. Once created, you can move your contacts into the newly added sequence.
Step 11: When finished, click Save.
Once your contacts are added, the next step is setting up your sequence steps. Here are the types of steps you can use:
Email (automatic and manual) โ ensure the contacts have the correct emails.
Call โ contacts need to have valid phone numbers in the correct format.
SMS (automatic and manual) โ same as for the calls, you need to add phone numbers to contacts.
WhatsApp โ phone numbers for your contacts are required.
LinkedIn (automatic and manual) โ you need to add the LinkedIn URL to the contact's card.
Task โ create to-dos or reminders for yourself or your team.
Condition โ create different paths in your sequence based on specific criteria.
During the sequence setup, you'll also see two additional options: Action and Merge.
Action (Move to sequence) โ this lets you move contacts to a different sequence. You can choose both the sequence and the specific step where you'd like them to continue.
Merge โ merge the current branch with another step in the sequence. The contact will then be processed on the step you selected.
Apart from the creation, you have control over the steps management. Here is what you can do:
Reorder by drag-and-drop
Clone
Add and pause A/B variants
Set up a step delay
Delete
๐กImportant note: If you choose an Email step, make sure to set a subject line for Step 1. To keep all emails in the same thread, leave the subject line empty for Step 2 and onward.
Sequence settings
The next and final tab of the sequence setup is Settings. Here you have the campaign overview and general settings:
Account โ you can connect your mailboxes and LinkedIn account in this tab.
General settings โ set up max new daily contacts (people we plan for Step 1 per day), max number of emails (for the sequence per day), delay between emails
Schedule โ work with the existing schedules or create a new one from scratch.
Replies handling โ choose how to handle replied contacts, contacts with no replies, and people who have booked a meeting.
Calls handling โ manage call steps handling and automatically call people.
Tasks handling โ work with 2 drop-down menus: choose the owner of the tasks and pick the handling method.
The final set of settings pertains to deliverability.
Here, you can choose whether to use plain text mode and enable open or click tracking. By default, plain text mode is enabled for all new sequences, removing HTML formatting, images, and tracking links to send emails as plain text only.
Once you have gone through all the steps, you can save the changes or launch the campaign right away. It is up to you!
